AIC and ARM Programs

American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America offers you educations that matters. If you are interested in getting this designation or simply setting yourself up for success… there are classes taking place!!!!

Associate in Claims (AIC) Program
Improve your technical claim handling ability. Claim professionals handle a wide variety of claims, including property, auto, workers compensation, and bodily injury claims. Earning the AIC designation can improve your technical claim handling abilities as well as your communication and negotiation skills. You can take the standard multiline approach, which covers personal lines as well as commercial lines property and liability, or you can choose among four specialty paths if one of them would better suit your career needs.
The AIC program was developed with the technical and financial assistance of the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters. Many companies use it as an official part of their claims training programs.
Required Courses:
Choose one of the following five paths to earn the AIC designation:
Multiline: AIC 33, 34, 35, and 36
Personal Lines Auto and Liability: AIC 33, 34, and 36, plus either CPCU 553, 555 or INS 22
Personal Lines Homeowners: AIC 33, 35, and 36, plus either CPCU 553, 555 or INS 22
Commercial Lines Liability: AIC 33, 34, 36, and CPCU 552
Commercial Lines Property: AIC 33, 35, 36, and CPCU 551

To be an effective risk manager, you need to develop the skills that are vital to effectively controlling,
assessing, and financing risk. The Institutes’ Associate in Risk Management program helps you enhance your
risk management skills by teaching you how to build and implement a balanced risk financing strategy using
retention, transfer, and hybrids. Passing the required ARM exams earns the Associate in Risk Management designation.
Passing the Risk Management for Public Entities (RMPE 352) course, in addition to the ARM courses listed below earns the Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities (ARM-P) designation.

What is INS?
Developed by the Insurance Institute of America, the INS program deals with principles of insurance,
the provisions of some of the most widely used personal and commercial property and liability contracts
as well as life and health policies, and the relationship between insurance theory and practice.
Prerequisites:  INTRO - Introduction to Property and Liability Insurance is recommended for people
with less than 6 months industry experience.

Only Three Classes to Earn Your Certificate!
1. INS 21 - Property and Liability Insurance Principles
2. INS 22 - Personal Insurance
3. INS 23 - Commercial Insurance

NAIW DESIGNATIONS – HOW TO CONTINUE YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 

CPIW / CPIM

CPIW/M DESIGNATIONS

NAIW members have the opportunity to earn the Certified Professional Insurance Woman/Man (CPIW/M) designation.
Requirements for the CPIW/M designation include:

  • Membership in NAIW of a minimum of three years
  • Industry Employment in the industry for a minimum of five years.
  • Completion of one NAIW outlined educational programs such as CWC or “I Can” series
  • Completion of a non-NAIW educational program/designation such as AIC, CPCU, etc

DAE

DAE DESIGNATIONS

Requirements for the DAE designation include:

The designation must be renewed every five (5) years – go to NAIW website for details

EDUCATION
25 hours of insurance OR continuing education OR professional development courses either as student or teacher; OR One class leading to an industry designation either as student or teacher; OR Two 500 word or longer articles printed in publications (outside NAIW), or an NAIW program written and approved by the NAIW Board of Directors, or revised an NAIW program, or a white paper published for the industry. 

NAIW PROGRAMS
NAIW program (approved as CPIW/M qualifier) not previously completed as student or teacher; OR One 4-hour and six 30-minute I CAN Programs not previously completed as student or teacher.

NAIW PARTICIPATION
Serve or Chair 2 Local Committees; OR Hold one Local elected position; OR Serve or Chair One State, Regional or National Committee. AND Attend any combination of two State, Regional or National Conventions.
